December 24. Christmas Eve. One of the busiest days of the year. People are busy getting their last -minute shopping done, wrapping presents or in the kitchen preparing all sorts of yummy goodness. Some have already started their celebrations. My family is no different. In my life all of the above is usually true plus one more VERY IMPORTANT event....

December is a time for reflection and celebration. Ok...I'd be lying if I said I remembered everything awesome that has happened this year. I can barely remember what the heck happened last weekend. Each year I do my best to remember the high points and celebrate them. I also reflect on the low points and wonder what to do about them. This year I've spent a lot of time thinking and reading about...
Family, friends, shelter, clothing, water, Sweet potato pie, Collard Greens, Turkey & Dressing. Just a FEW of the things I am grateful for. Unlike some I like to ease into the Christmas holiday season. I don't usually acknowledge the Christmas season until December 1st (at the earliest). Anything sooner it's just too much too soon and no, I am not a Grinch! Autopilot Existence - Wake up, get dressed, go to work/school. Pick up the spouse/kids. Go to activities, events, workout... get home... cook dinner!!! Cook!!!?? Who's got time to cook a hot meal! That is exactly why this post is later than I had planned on). Take the autopilot existence and throw in a near last minute decision to make a very necessary trip to Dallas on less than a shoe string budget add a 13-hour drive (one way) and everything comes to a screeching halt! Just a quick note to say thank you. Sometimes events happen that, in the big scheme of things... really are insignificant. Those same things at the right (or wrong) time can seem like they are the only thing that matters... they can knock you off your game and command your focus.
Such a moment happened to me yesterday. I was feeling frustrated, defeated, pissed off; all at the same time. A friend walked up to me and immediately knew something was very wrong. Greetings Earthlings and other visitors... This month's theme is New Beginnings. I figured that my latest new beginning was this website. Believe me when I tell you it has been a bit of an obsession for the last couple of weeks. The ever-changing vision of what I wanted it to look like, finding and overcoming the limitations of the buggy software, the many episodes of "Ooooooo look, something shiny!" Great ideas come to you at inopportune times; like when |
