Family, friends, shelter, clothing, water, Sweet potato pie, Collard Greens, Turkey & Dressing. Just a FEW of the things I am grateful for. Unlike some I like to ease into the Christmas holiday season. I don't usually acknowledge the Christmas season until December 1st (at the earliest). Anything sooner it's just too much too soon and no, I am not a Grinch! Far from it. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I just think Thanksgiving gets the short end of the stick or is that the small half of the wishbone. Either way I enjoy Thanksgiving for the intimacy. In my family Thanksgiving has traditionally been the smaller of the two holidays. My favorites ones usually are attended by just a few family members and or friends. The dinner while usually amazing isn't the point. The real deal is the connections. We strengthen the existing ones and sometimes we discover new ones. The atmosphere is one of love and belonging and football... don't forget the football!
The end of November marks the beginning of the end of another year. December consists of lot of reflection on the past and planning the future. I usually start looking forward to the coming year and speculating on the wondrous events that may take place. My heart and head also know that despite all the love & belonging that prevails, there are still those who don't look forward to this time of year. Frequently it is because they may have lost a loved one during previous holidays. For them it can be a time of loneliness and sadness. My heart goes out to them. I too have my own sadness associated with the holidays. Personally, I choose to focus on the fun times and memories. I focus on those that are still here with me. As you finish or freeze the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers, as you reflect on your plentiful Black Friday booty remember why we give thanks, the things and people we give thanks for. Remember to express that thankfulness not only with your thoughts, but with your words and especially with your actions. Happy Holidays!

While Thanksgiving has always been my favorite, I do love how Christmas seems to bring out the happiness in folks! If it didn’t cost so much, Christmas might’ve been my favorite too!😂
