ABOUT THE TITLE
The Edge of Fitting In...
In 2014, as part of Toastmasters, I was required to give the Ice Breaker speech.
As your first speech, it is designed to do just that... break the ice between you and others.
It's a kinda of getting to know you in four to six minutes speech.
At seven minutes, mine ran a little long but I had stuff to say!
Throughout my life I've felt as if I've lived on the edge.
The Toastmasters video "On the Edge” was the inspiration for this Blog.
Ten years later in 2024, I revisited the story for a speaking event called "That's What She Said".
I titled my talk, "The Edge". It is a revamped and updated version of the original.
I discovered that I've always been on the edge.
I like it there!
ABOUT ME
Kim C Wells
Born in the 60's on the south side of Chi-Town. Survived the 70's despite bell bottoms and platform shoes! In the 80's I found my soulmate. We recently left Illinois winters behind for the sunny days in Arizona. For 40 years now we've been by each other's side and have had each other's back. We've faced the ups and the downs of life together. We have one awesome kid, a wonderful son-in-law, two grand kids, one great grand kid, (all equally awesome) and lots of love.
I believe in Love, laughter and lifelong friendships. I love early morning deep dive conversations with my wife. Late night or should I say all night conversations about whatever comes up with a small group of friends is my idea of a fun night. I believe in happily ever after and I'm a sucker for a beautiful sunset or sunrise. Especially the ones we are seeing here in Arizona)
I'm addicted to personal development. I often ponder what makes me, me. I believe we've been here before and we will be here again... (Thank you School of Metaphysics). I believe that in one moment we can be our own best friend and in the next our own worst enemy. I search for ways to be a better me and frequently wonder why I act one way versus another. My search for meaning usually leads to more questions than answers.
I'm not a mainstream type of person. The latest fashion trends and mind-numbing plastic bottle flipping fads usually escape my radar and I'm okay with that. I care when someone does something of substance, something that changes a life for the better; something that moves you. Something that makes you think or makes your heart sing.
In my lifetime I have held many titles such as Improv student, Actor, Network Marketer, Computer Geek, student of metaphysics, martial artist, biker, Toastmaster, Mindset & Gratitude Coach, Granny Kim, Great Granny Kim and long ago a bodybuilder. I enjoy people. Entertaining people, laughing with, helping and loving people. Little people, big people, young and old people. I’ve learned we are all connected… we are all one.
