The Wonder of it all...

Stonehenge is a well-known monument that has fascinated me for years.  The who, what and why of it occasionally cause the firing of my brain synapses to go into overdrive.  I'm not alone, for ages people have speculated about the origin and purpose of Stonehenge. Some of the more colorful theories I've encountered over the years are; that aliens built Stonehenge (strong astronomical ties), or the stones were purchased by the devil from an Irish woman and then brought to what we know as Wiltshire, England and even that it was constructed by King Arthur's Merlin! We may never know the absolute truth of Stonehenge but...

... that's kinda the point.  We don't always know what really happened. Given the fallible nature and fluidity of human memory what we pass down from one generation to the next changes with each iteration. Our technology changes our beliefs. Because of our tech (or lack thereof, we once believed that you could sail off the edge of the earth.  Modern tech applied...now we believe the earth is round.

All that being said... we humans wonder.  We wonder if we got it right.  We wonder what happened in the past. We wonder what will happen in the future.  We wonder because we are curious by nature. Speculation can be fun.  It can jump start our imagination and lead us to unexpected places, unexpected revelations.  We wonder because we don't know. Wonder can lead us to amazing discoveries about ourselves or the world around us. 

Now that we are entrenched in the beginning of 2019 I wonder.  One of the first things I wondered was honestly... what was my next blog post gonna be about!  Finally, I wondered so much I found myself going down a rabbit hole and wondering about wondering.  And now you know not only why this post exist but also why it was a long time coming! It was an extremely deep rabbit hole to climb out of.

For 2019 these are just a few of the things I wonder about in no particular order...
What does this year have in store for me? - Will I be capable to overcoming the challenges presented to me? - How will my marriage grow? - What new people will come into my life? - Who will depart from my life? - Am I on the right path with my business? - Where will I travel to this year? - What can I do to help? - Was I Xena or Gabrielle or some odd combination of them in a past life? (My brain not yours!) Why is there suffering? - What do I want? - What do I need?  -  When will I lose weight? - What really is our purpose on this planet? - Is my definition of "God" the correct one? - Am I really about to be 57 years old? If John Wick fought Jack Reacher who would win? - it just keeps going!!!

Now you know why I have a blog... this stuff must come out of my head!  I look forward to this year with many hopes, some fears and always with dreams.  Ever the optimist I believe it will work out.  If for some reason it doesn't, I will do my best to learn from it.  My belief is that the sun will rise tomorrow.  I'll get some things right and some I won't.  I leap into this year with an open mind and understand that what I believe today could change by the end of the year.  I wonder what new technology will alter my view, what new experiences will plant the seeds of change. I wonder who I will become.
